Reduce Runsite Rubbish

Cock Pain said that he would be cooking his delicious porridge for his run in May and has advised to announce in the circle for the coming weeks till his run to have all members bringing their own plates/bowls. We have talked about it for the past few months but not implemented as yet.

It is best that we start somewhere to reduce rubbish so that anyone who hares a run would not need to deal with the excess rubbish. Your cooperation is needed to make this happen and starting with this run onwards, try to bring and use your own utensils at the hash.

Anyway, using Styrofoam is not good for health in the long term.

Christmas Beach Run

The organisers of last year's Christmas Run gave out a beach towel as a momento of the occassion and run. This year they are giving members an opportunity to use that towel at the beach.

Run No 857 on 19th December 2009 will be a beach run at Port Dickson. The organisers have booked a bungalow near the Bougainvilla Resort to be used as runsite and for the On On.

That weekend is a holiday weekend and therefore nearly all beach resorts and hotels in PD are fully booked. Members are not expected to drive back home after the run. Members who are unable to find accommodation at any of resorts or hotels, are welcomed to rough it out in the 4 room bungalow.

Directions to runsite. From the KL/Seremban Plus highway, get onto the PD/Seremban highway which will the 2nd interchange to Seremban.

At the end of the PD highway, turn left (or 9 o'clock at roundabout). Keep going until you see the Ancasa Resort where you will have to turn right. The bungalow is just after NUBE and Bourgainvilla Resort.

The bungalow location is given on the Google map below.

This is the season for sharing and exchanging gifts. While Santa is no secret, the organisers are requesting each member to bring along a gift, wrapped of course.

Nothing big, just something, a bar of chocolate perhaps. No names, unless you want the gift back, then have your name on it.

The organisers have planned some surprises and are looking forward to all members turning up.

Bukit Kiara - Chikungunya

There have been a few reports of some hashers coming down with Chikungunya after running in Bukit Kiara.

The reports were mostly by members of Mother Hash who ran in that area with the KL Harriets recently.

Our member, Bandit, who planned to set his run at Bukit Kiara also came down with an unexplained illness 4 days after he did a recce in that area. Only after hearing of reports by Mother hash, did he realise that the symptoms of his illness were similar to that of chikungunya.

Bandit is recovering, but the poor soul appears to be religiously following one doctor's advise to him to stop drinking beer, apparently on a diagnosis of "too much water retention". Is it not a sin to ask a hasher to stop drinking beer?

Due to this Chikungunya scare, Bandit, also being a victim, has agreed to move the runsite for his run on 25/10/2008 from Bukit Kiara to Bukit Gasing.

There should be a general advisory that Klang Valley hash chapters avoid Bukit Kiara for some time. Those joggers from Taman Tun should also be advised to note and take precautions.
