Rehashed 20141011 Jack Kee

Run: 1108 Hare: Jack Kee Venue: Taman Perindustrian Puchong Cohares:

Though the HLH4 sign at the first left was pointing the wrong way (JPS said he stopped and corrected the direction and so did bandit but apparently the sign was not tied tightly and so the wind played a little havoc with it), a big group managed to find the runsite.

There was no warm up as the first climb came in after a 50 meters' walk into the jungle. It was a practically near vertical climb up the burnt out section of the hill. Reaching the top of the hill, which took some about half an hour to reach, the first check.

A back check and from there the trail kept to the fringe of the jungle going in and out of the jungle with a little bit of downs and ups.

The back pack was relieved when the papers finally came out of the jungle and into the housing estate for a long walk on tarmac heading back towards the runsite.

On On onsite.

Rehashed 20140927 May Wong

Run: 1106 Hare: May Wong Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares:

Run started at 6:00 pm sharp. Paper led into the bushes, crossing the little stream and up the hill to the right. In the midst of the climb, the first check made the front runners wonder where to connect, some moved on, myself turned forward to the left, and the slower ones back checked.

After some time I heard on-on calls from down there, but decided to move further up to the path where I immediately hit the second check.

Soon Dipstick was up there, coming, following paper from the left and Charlie Chickadee and others came up the trail from the right. Connecting paper was found straight forward into the bushes. Due to earlier rain the hare tried to avoid hills, now it was quite easy running small trails inside the jungle.

Some more checks were broken quite easily until reaching the highway back to runsite. On the way out Michael and Hash came limping in the out-trail, being too late for the complete run.

Rehashed 20140301 LCLY

Run: 1076 Hare: LCLY Venue: Wawasan Puchong Cohares: Small Thing,Vespa & some others

There was another chapter running in the area and the run site was full. The hares then decided to move the site to along the main road at the entrance of the just completed new school. Members had to park their cars along both sides of the road.

The trail went up behind the new school and hit right at the top for a long loop and back through the usual home trial "highway". At the first right turn at the top, some second guessed and turned left to hit the home trail along the "highway".

CockPain led the FRBs out around after seven while his better half, XL, was last to come out about an hour later.

The wash-up before the circle was a problem as the cars were parked along the busy main road. Some had to drive out to the normal place to clean up.

On On was at a restaurant.

Joint Mistress decided to record her run and uploaded the results as the pix below. (click on pix to enlarge)

Rehashed 20140104 Vespa

Run: 1068 Hare: Vespa Venue: Wawasan Puchong Cohares: Thomas, James

It was raining cats and dogs on the way to the runsite and did not stop when it came to 6:00 pm. The hashers were either seeking shelter under the roof of the shops or reluctant to leave the car. Even the On-Cash refused to leave the car to perform his duty of collecting guest fees!

Kiki was the first runner to go in, starting the steep climb towards the rocks to the left. Reaching the high grass Munster was run over by a dog and landed on his back. The climbing went on until the trail led into the woods. Fortunately the rain stopped, whereby it was still difficult to climb up some muddy slopes.

Checks were cleared and connected nicely by the front runners with Dipstick and Kiki, so it was an easy climbing, walking, running, sliding and trying to keep the balance while crossing the small stream a couple of times on fallen tree.

Past 7:00 already and still deep inside along the even stretch of the river. The paper lead to the right into the bushes, where the hometrail was expected. A couple of up- and downhill slopes in the dark took its time until the runsite was reached at about 8:15.

It took the first runner 1hour 35 minutes for the 9 k run.

On-On onsite with delicious Rendang-Duck and Nasi Lemak

Rehashed 20131130 SohBond

Run: 1063 Virgin Hare: Soh Bond Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares: Small Thing

On the eve of the run, a message was sent "i gonna to set tomorrow run... want long or short run????"
Someone replied "Short"
Then another added "Remember 6.45 dark aledi" to which the first replier gave the thumbs up.

The run at Taman Wawasan started at the usual in-trail for the no warm-up climb and then the trail went left to come out at the water tank in the housing area for a 1 1/2 km long home run on tarmac.

The FRB was out in 45 mins, followed closely by the other usual FRBs.

But the mid and back packs were late in coming out.

But this was, after all, a two checks run. So much so that the hare, Soh Bond, after laying the home trail, went up the hill again.

It was later known that one of the checks was a falsie and after it was correctly broken and connected, someone who figured he knew where the trail would go, called OnOn at the misleading trail and led the back pack to go on a wild goose chase.

The turn out that night was big, nearly 60 in number.

On On was at the restaurant at Batu 14.

Rehashed 20130413 Chong Chee Yong

Run: 1030 Hare: Chong Chee Yong Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares:

Arrived quite early at the runsite and enjoyed watching the arriving hashers struggling to find parking space, as the usual parking area was still occupied by cars of hikers who enjoy this nice area.

MiowMiow was seen blocking Bandit's car, when he tried to reverse into a parking lot, and took it for herself. Eiiiaaaah….sure icing later!

In–trail was close by, short distance into the bushes and up the hill, a steep climb without the chance of some warm-up. Front runners reached the trail at the top and a first check, while the back runners still crawling up the steep slope.

The check was broken to the left into the jungle, going downhill to a small stream. Crossing it, a bit further away a second check was broken by Pengsan, who was seen connecting back the trail with paper, but not calling ‘OnOn’ – for which he got iced later on.

After some running the trail led down again to a broader stream, which could be crossed by a fallen small tree, quite challenging to keep the balance. Up on the other side and again cruising through small path which allowed some pace.

Coming down to a wider trail the front-runners expected to be on the home trail already, but after a while a sharp turn to the right led them down to the waterfall. Instead of crossing the stream on the slippery rocks I decided to get my shoes wet and walked a few meters upstream to the other side…..so refreshing, tempted to lie down and get soaked in the cooling water.

A steep climb up on the other side, with some more climbing to come and………there was Bandit, honking his horn!

From that the runsite must be near, but it took another 15 minutes or so to finish.

A very good run with everything which makes a hash-run enjoyable, nicely set by the coheres. Unfortunately not up to Bandit’s standard, who wanted to show off by taking only the hill at the beginning and the end of the run and skip all the middle part on even terrain.

Rehashed 20110430 Sexy Showman

Run: 928 Hare: Showman Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares: ...

Yup, the beerman lost his way to the run site again! There was a small concern before the run started as reports of run papers being picked up by some busturds, sabotaging the run but Eto spotted him and gave chase but lost him after reaching the run site.

The run started with a trail where the locals use to get a good exercise and just about the mid of the first climb, the trail led right into jungle canopies. The long gradient uphill and down brought us the spot where hare and co-hares resting and teasing the running pack. We got on a trail on the right that was freshly cleared; it was a long downhill on a long forgotten path.

There were some good running stretches in the jungle before we came to UPM’s recreational lab complex. We then ran on a long offtracks till we reached a waterfall and clear water pool area for the one and only check. The simple back check was easily broken with a steep climb and the beginning of a series of short and high climbs that seemed endless till we finally got on the intrail.

The run back was good to generate a lot of sweat but the last downhill stretch where the locals used to access these hills was somewhat risky if not careful. FROP in 1hr35mins while Cock Pain and U-I came back around 9pm!

Rehashed 20110409 Clip Clip

Run: 925 Hare: Clip Clip Venue: Puchong Btau 14 Cohares: Tangki Air, SuckIt, Showman, Eto, Kent, ...

The Hare Clip Clip Followed the description on HLH4’s website to the new runsite and was there about 5:15 pm with nobody else around than the hare’s car parked by the roadside next to the “little houses”. After a while Michael drove by, had a look, turned around and chased away! Hmm, didn’t he like the area because of the “little houses”? No, he just went back to the pasar malam to buy some banana for the fellow hashers!

In the meantime the cohares came back, with some co-co hares and their friends. The turn-up of the other hashers was rather small, maybe there were more cohares from the “Puchong-gang” than runners.

Run started while beerman was still circling around. Bandit not to be seen yet, still busy with some unnecessary u-turns to show up late as usual.

Front runners Dipstick, Kiki and Ernesto looking at the first check to the right, while NoHair was further to the left trying to find the paper. Check was broken after some time, continuing forward to the second check, which created a lot of confusion. Kelam Kabut, Long John and the other FRB’s checked around the bungalow construction site, but could not find the paper. R u ? was heard everywhere until the pack went back to the in trail.

Just after most of them decided to go back, Guitarman, Cock Pain and me heard Kiki and Nohair somewhere up the hill, coming down from the bungalow site. After some checking we realized the in trail was very near. Kelam Kabut, Nohair, Cock Pain and I decided to continue, even though it was already 6:55.

Long John saw the paper going steep uphill and decided to go back with Michael’s group, as it was seen as “slightly above his standard”. We had to climb up to the bungalow site and further up a tarmac road almost to the water tank. Uphill I was falling behind as usual, but could catch up by shortcutting a tarmac loop by sliding down the slope.

Finally we entered the jungle zigzagging around uphill and downhill as it became quite dark already. Surprisingly we heard some honking! Bandit somehow managed to find his way and was in front of us! Cock Pain and I caught up with U-I and decided to stay as a group as she was struggling a bit. We moved further uphill, Cock Pain pulling and me pushing U-I, trying to keep her on her feet.

Out of the bushes and along the edge of a slope we were on tarmac later, almost missing a sharp left turn at the condo. From there it was another ten minutes back to the runsite. Last runners Cock-Pain, U-I and I back at 8:35.

Circle at the runsite, with some icing for director (Ernesto), not calling on on (JPS), inappropriate behavior at a karaoke place (Showman) etc.

Dinner at restaurant nearby.

(scribed by Joachim)

(scribe and pix (click on collage to enlarge) below by No hair)

It was a new run site with the adjacent ‘new village’ and a pasar malam at the main junction. We saw Michael driving out and away from the run site towards the pasar malam. We finally saw Joachim wondering around the area to ‘check-out’ the surroundings. Kwang drove in with friend, Spiderman while we saw the first few co-hares came back (Sexy Showman, Doggy Kent and Eto). The rest of the troops started to gather just after someone said that the crowd was small. JPS and Dipstick overshot the junction and turned back to find the run site while beerwagon was somewhere in another ‘new village’. So the pack started the run without waiting for him.

RunTrail 20110409 At the front Dipstick, KikiLala and Ernesto were fooling around and chit-chatting, pushing each other to get the other stepping on mud. It was a run round the OP and into the open area for a check that was broken far back with another pack calling ON at the other side of the hill. LJ Silver was screwing the other party as their calls were ‘illegal’ as Kelam Kabut reasoned where the start paper was.

We finally saw the group was Dipstick, Charlie Chan and gang. So, the pack together again and ended up with the 2nd check that took ages to break. This was where some confusion took place with the runners all over the place hunting. Unknowingly to the front pack, the late starters found the check and did not ‘do the overall OnCall’ to lure the rest of the pack into fresher trails.

Kelam Kabut and I were on top of the hill near the back of the bungalows while we heard Guitarman, Cock Pain and Joachim at the bottom in the OP. We had a ‘discussion’ on the whereabouts and decided to continue. We met Michael, Miow2 and Email coming down from the right and they too decided not to go and followed the InTrail which was just meters away.

Guitarman saw the climb and decided not to go further and turned back with Michael’s group. The 4 of us (Kelam Kabut, Cock Pain, Joachim and I) continued to climb the rocky slope to end up at the front part of the bungalows! We were then on the tarmac uphill and then a windy downhill on the laterite road till we reached the layered slope to enter the jungle. We moved in a group to ‘secure’ each other as Joachim was a bit struggling on the slippery uphills and in the semi-dark conditions.

We were led on winding paths, up and down hills and finally heard some honking! So, we caught up with U-I and Spiderman! Surprisingly, the back pack was here with Bandit further up cursing, as usual for the hill climbs. It was on a narrow path downhill by the housing area.

The home trail was on tarmac through the housing and met 3 guests enjoying the run. I was running to nowhere and lost on paper on the tarmac, apparently missed the left turn, to make a 3km loop to get back to the run site. Kwang did the same! I was back at the run site after 8pm for the supposed to be a 7km run!

Rehashed 20110326 Jacky Suck It

Run: 923 Hare: Suck It Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares: Tangki Air, Ta Ada Air, Sexy Showman, Clip Clip, Eto, Ken, ...

The Hare Suck It This was HLH4's second run here. The last time many were late as they went around Puchong looking for the runsite, Bandit too was late arriving at about 7pm that time. This time the hares put up better signatures, Bandit was late still, 6.30pm this time. He agreed to do the scribe but it is still yet to come. So we will just relate what he told us.

When he came, late as usual, he noticed the hare was out and Munster was putting on his shoes. After Bandit putting on his shoes he followed the paper trail, straight up the near cliff, a climb which he thought was tricky and maybe dangerous. It took him about 20 mins to reach the top.

Reached the top, he followed the papers through the shrubs up to the 1st fork. Seeing torn paper, he took the left which led out to the clearing and right into the jungle. He went in a short distance and found the trail going down and as it was getting dark, he decided to turn back to look for other trails. While still on top, he met Cock Pain and U I going in and Cock Pain tried to persuade Bandit to go in together with him and his wife but failed.

While the couple went following the paper, bandit came to the 1st fork and went straight instead of hitting the in-trail. Keeping to the fringe of the jungle and about 10 mins later, he saw fresh papers. Thinking it was the home trail, Bandit decided to go into the jungle hoping to turn back on meeting with the runners coming out.

Free B ShortsHe then met Kongsi, who told him "ta mau pegi, banyak tajam". Bandit still went down, met Munster and then the back pack led by Chickadee. He then followed the group out with everyone thinking it was the home trail. As they were coming, the group saw the papers leading left into the jungle again.

While two guests decided to follow the paper, the back pack with bandit kept right and hit the home trail and came out around 7.20pm after enjoying a beautiful sun set.

FROP, Dipstick at 7.27pm with Kelam Kabut at his heels. The last out was 8.10pm. Cock Pain and U I turned back and came out the in-trail. Gary and Pengsan went back in to assist a boy who followed Gary out and left his parents and a sibling waiting for him inside the jungle.

Freebie, shorts by the hare.

On On onsite with Puchong Poachers's home cooked spread.
