Dirty Car

A member wrote in to say that he agrees that the car he drives for the runs is normally dirty. Further more last week's run, the road leading to the runsite at Sg Jeluk was very dirty and dusty and naturally his car got dirtier.
But that does not mean that someone should highlight how dirty his car was. He provided us with 'before' and 'after' pictures of his car and asked us for our opinion. He also asks that the persons, must be two at least, who cleaned part of his car, to clean the whole damn car.
So can both the persons who did it please own up.

Looking at the 'after' picture, it narrows down to just a few culprits who prefer this position/style.

Hare: William 'Kelamkabut' Chong Venue: Shooting Range Sg Jeluk

A good turnout of about 50 members and 7 guests. At about six, Jointmistress whispered On On to start the run. The path to the foothills gave a good warm-up to the FROP. From there, a good climb up to 210 metres. Then a short but steep downhill. Across the steam, a short climb up to 200 metres where some in the middle pack decided they had enough and followed another path home. By this time the FROP were already on their way up the freshly cleared road which led to a height of about 290 metres. From there it all the way down for a very good long home run. First out within the hour and last out by 7.40pm.

Hare: Farah Venue: Venice Hill
About 20 members managed to reach the runsite near the Venice Hill Condominium despite the lack of hash directional signs leading to it. Just before 6.00pm, the sky opened up to let loose another downpour in the Klang Valley. Members took shelter at the walkways of the unoccupied shoplots.
GM called ON ON 3 dots past six and 15 members trotted out in the rain looking for washed away trail paper. Finding some, they managed to get to the foothills at Wangsa Cheras. The many hikers taking shelter there would probably have thought that we were a crazy bunch to go up this hill in this rain at this hour.
From the base, it was just a climb up and up in the rain, stopping only to look for trail paper at forks and junctions of this well trod hiking trail, till a height of about 370 metres. From there the back pack were pleased that the not-washed away papers took them down hill. But it was not smooth going as they had to frequently stop and search for the trail paper.
Reaching the valley they would have thought they would be out of the jungle within minutes. But how mistaken they were, for the 'found' papers took them up again for another climb in the dark. Reaching up to the home trail found GM waiting for them. On the home trail the back pack could hear someone who kept shouting ON ON ON ON ON further down. Thinking it was the call of the rescuers, they shouted back that they were on track and on paper. Coming down to the stream, the 'rescuer' turned out to be Ballcracker, who could not find the paper trail out and was, correctly, waiting for the back pack.
At a quarter to nine and much to their relief, they were out of the jungle for another long road walk back to the runsite, or so they thought. But with three key office bearers, GM, On Sex (acting) and Hash Cash not out yet, a pickup came and gave the last 8 tired and wet hashers a ride home.
American Sam, Gary and Kok Pain were out jointly at 8.00pm, while Kiki was the sole middle runner who reached home 20 mins later.

Hare: Ballcracker Venue: Pangsoon Hulu Langat
The paper led the runners 1st down along the stream, then onto some thick undergrowth, then onto the road and up the track along the pipeline. The papers led uphill to a height of about 310 metres before it looped back to the in trail which was incorrectly presumed to be also the home trail. It was a 40 min run but where was the hare?
Much to the relief of the beer thirsty hashers, Ballcracker and his 3 co-hares came out at about 7.30pm, looking all wet and exhausted. It seemed the hare could not find the trail near the abandoned building that linked to the Gunong Nuang track. So he had backtracked on the in trail and crossed over to another trail that led past the dam which would have given the runners a scenic homerun. GM commented that he travelled some 32 km to do a 4km run.
All guests were sponsored by the hare. On On onsite catered by Kok Pain.

Wat Koh - Remembered

Wat Koh Lai Yoke Lin

Wat Koh joined HLH4 in April 2004. Set his 1st run No 597 on 25/12/2004 at Kesuma Lakes. His 2nd run No 661 was set for 18/03/2006. Wat Koh recced the trail at Kesuma Lakes, ordered the food for the ON ON and printed the T-shirts.
On Thursday 16/03/2006 he met his friends for supper and to finalise everything for his run. But his maker had other plans for him, cos on his way home after the discussion, he was involved in a nasty accident from which he did not pull through.
Knowing Wat Koh, his family and friends felt that Wat Koh would want his run to go on. So after the funeral, HLH4 gathered and ran a good run, wore the T-shirt he had wanted to give and sang him a tearful farewell.

Some pictures of the circle that was in his honor.

Hare: Winnie Jenny Venue: Galla Park, Seremban
A good turnout on this very very hot evening for Winnie's virgin run, despite the runsite being "out of town". GM LongJohn called On On a dot past six. The paper led past the factory and on into a clearing at the jungle fringe and then led up the 1st hill to a height of about 120 metres. From there it was a short track downhill, across a stream and onto the other side where another hill (so we thought) waited. The paper took the runners along the road uphill and it was hard climbing all the way. Reaching the top was no relief, cos as soon as each climb was completed, another waited. The only difference was that the gradient got steeper and steeper. It took the FROP some 45 mins to reach the 460 metres high summit. The middle pack took about 1 hr 10 mins whereas the back pack would have spent some 100 mins climbing.
From then on it was down all the way to the flats. The 4km long hometrail from the base was distrupted and hampered by missing trail paper. On the hometrail one hasher asked another "Have you run here before?" The other answered "This is my first and last run here"

Occasion: CNY Run Venue: Bandar Tech

A good turnout on a fine day. A simple run, yet the back pack gave the 'Whore' a miss. Some blessings from the sky during the run and all were out in good time for the CNY do.
One could have mistaken this as a MU fan club meeting or even an event sponsored by our "Now everyone can fly" airlines, cos, it was a sea of Red with a sprinkling of Blue at the Circle.

Hare: Heny So Venue: Karak Highway

Many were believed to be still celebrating though it was a week after the Lunar New Year. Nevertheless about 20 members joined Heny for her virgin run. It was jungle trekking and river crosssings in the rain and assisted on by the leeches. Gary Leong reached home first in 1hr 10 mins.

More than 70% of our members celebrate the Lunar New Year and it was the eve which is normally highlighted by a reunion dinner. Hare: Leong Sr Venue: Bt 14, Hulu Langat
About 50 members inclusive of guests turned up on this hot and dry evening. The same runsite where younger brother Gary had set his last run. The papers took the runners on some very well trod paths and amidst falling leaves in the rubber. It was generally a road run following the same trail laid by IBU (Mother). Even the track uphill was on gravel road but one with at least a 50 degree gradient. Towards the hilltop, the trail branched off-road into thick vegetation for another short but practically a 75 degree climb to the top. It was off-road down the hill up to the base and from there it was road again for the long long home run. Some commented that it was a near 12 km run ... possible.
