Rehashed 20120505 Chong Kok Man

Run: 981 Hare: Chong Kok Man Venue: Precinct 17 Putrajaya Cohares:

Arrived early and getting prepared for the run. A quite remarkable number of hashers have found their way and were chatting about previous Saturday’s main event in KL.

OnOn was called at 6.00 sharp and Dipstick led the FROP’s along the rocky ravine. Passin

g the concrete slope, up the road passing the bungalow under construction and finally reaching the rubber, where the first check was placed further up the hill.

MeowMeow and I followed the On-calls to the right and saved further climbing up as the paper was connected around the hill.

Bandit indeed, after finishing his “Clean”-up was so enthusiastic (or maybe the eyes still with tears, so he couldn’t see the connecting paper) that he stormed on all the way to the hilltop, dragging along with him a reluctant Blood Donor and some equally not so smart ones.

In the meantime the next check on the other side of the hill was quickly broken, leaving Dipstick and Guitarman suddenly behind as they were slowed down by the checking.

After some running the path lead down from the hill into some open space, where the next check could be found near a group of cattle. An excited Kiki Lala had to be pulled away from a cow and forced to follow the OnOn call.

Some easy running along the fence of a new construction to the next check placed at the left. It caused some confusion as the check was followed by a falsie (or vica versa), but Dipstick was right in going down the hill to the left, where he found the paper.

After that last check it was easy way along some Condos back to the beerwagon.

First runner out Dipstick in barely 45 min, all in all a short and easy run. SongLau swept the Eto and some guests out at about 8.20pm.

Run: 978 Hare: Amelia Big Spender Venue: Bukit Hatamas Cheras Cohares: Munster, Guat Ling

There was a only a small group of about 15 getting ready for the run in the slight drizzle. The trail up was the usual out trail and reaching the first fork under canopy, the papers led left and to the first check. This was broken at the back and to the right.

The papers led the hashers on well trodden paths right up to level six with a few more checks thrown in for good measure. The third took awhile to break.

The last check at level six was broken on the left to give that hashers a good long downward all the way to home, through the first check and the in-trail.

FRB was out at 7.05pm while the last, XL, who went in late and completed it on paper to reach home at about 7.45pm.

ABC 'boxed' the circle just when the drizzle stopped.

Bandit was given opportunity as mystery whip and he did not hold the Tool of Office in the right hand, he held it in the wrong hand which was the right hand.

KFC was also given the honor to go on the Box and ice anyone for no reason and she made sure Bandit had his bum cooled a second time.

On On onsite, Hassan's downline. Though there were about 30 at the On On, the balance food had to be ta paued.

Run: 976 Hare: Cowlin Venue: Broga Cohares:

(no report or pix yet)

A hot sunny afternoon and there were about 25 that gathered at a new run site in Broga. A well maintained compound with a couple of fish ponds and trimmed turf was the parking spot.

The on call were sounded and the usual walk heading through a path leading to the hills of Broga. The FRB’s were gaining pace and leading into the foothill where a check call were heard. Me and former HLH5 GM and some lost Bhai brothers (Hong Kong Singh came to settle his dues) were deciding to complete the run or not when we hit the on paper which was a back check.

I decided to follow the trail leaving behind the Bhai brothers to fend for themselves. Running slightly uphill, with Sexy Showman on trail, we hit the second check. This check was broken down a ravine and over a hill and the trail kept going up and up until the pack was gathered at the 3rd check. The check was broken a few hundred meters down. Apparently, the hare had laid a falsie uphill but before anyone could hit it, the trail was found.

It was a long run all the way down through some vegetable farms and Indonesian settlements before we again hit the in trail and back home. A well thought of run but a bit short by Hulu Langat Standards (set by Long John) but within the time limit of more than 45mins.

A great circle with lots of laughter. On On was at a nearby restaurant, fully sponsored by the Hare.

Rehashed 20120324 Khoo Kongsi

Run: 975 Hare: Khoo Kongsi Venue: Bukit Gasing Cohare: Buaya

It was heavy rain in KL at 5pm but arriving at Jalan Gasing no rain at all and the area near the Telkom tower was dry. Good sign!

The Puchong-fraction was back, after missing some runs due to wedding dinners, making the turn-up of hashers to about 25, inclusive some Nokia guests. A few notorious latecomers (like Bandit shy of hills) and NeRDO’s (NeverRunDrinkOnly) made up the number to 30+.

OnOn was called by JPS, the trail as expected went into the bushes straight down the hill all the way to the stream. A first check was broken crossing the stream and up the hill towards the observation tower. Before reaching the tower a backcheck was broken to the right, the trail led along the fence and further to the right parallel to road at the Gasing playground.

Reaching a slope “checking” was called. A small group was back-checking and found connecting paper on a trail leading to the right. OnOn was called, the herd in front running back, only to see the paper ending after a few hundred meters with another check!
What to heck was in the hare’s mind!??

Dipstick checking forward and up after the water pond uphill, Silent Dragon and Thomas forward, other hashers went back to the previous check, Sexy Showman wandering around, maybe thinking of a cigarette break…..and everywhere around R U?...checking….R U?....checking….calls were heard.

After a while everyone had enough of the confusion. Dipstick decided to go further uphill, some others ran back to the earlier check, and Silent Dragon, Clip Clip, Thomas and myself went on forward towards the picnic site under construction, up the hill until we saw the direction to the Indian Temple, down the hill and following the stream until we hit the in-trail and made the last steep climb up to the tower.

Despite the decuf we enjoyed our DIY run about 1hour 10, just nice for a good sweat.

Circle was short, icings for the Hare’s decuf layed paper, Nokia and his Directrice, some NeRDO’s.

OnOn at Chinese restaurant nearby with good food and plenty of beer provided by the hare.

Rehashed 20120317 SleepWalker

Run: 974 Hare: Alice Sleep Walker Venue: Sg Long Cohares: Silent Dragon, Joachim

(just came 290392012)

The sun was shining when getting into the runsite, however, the runsite was wet. A small turnout and no usual check breakers when OnOn was called just past six by JPS.

The usual in-trail where you had hoist yourself up from the tarmac, walk along the terrace before the first usual climb. Before reaching the top, a check which, after nearly twenty three mins of "R U"s and "Checking"s, nearly ended in checkmate until someone called On On.

Getting on to the paper trail, it meandered up to the hilltop where the papers stopped abruptly. A falsie? So fast? (it was learnt later that the falsie, the runners had hit, was the falsie of the 2nd check). Soon On call was heard and the few runners hit the trail down the hill, which turned out to be more difficult than the climb.

Coming out from under canopy, Chickadee and Blood Donor, stopped to admire the view but actually looking for the shortcut out. The paper now led on the just cut, muddy laterite road and it kept going up and up, much to chagrin of Bandit. Meanwhile SK, Pengsan, Miaw Miaw, Khoo Kongsi and Gigi Putih made good haste to be FROPs.

Getting off the muddy road, the trail took a sharp turn into the jungle, where it went up and then down for a shallow stream crossing and on to the another just cut muddy road. Soon the papers went under canopy again and then coming out, to hit a near shoulder height bracken covered trail which also led upwards. By now, SK, Pengsan and Gigi Putih had gone much ahead leaving chit chatting Miaw Miaw and the one who wants to be known 'Leng Chai'.

From the top, the trail downward was a bash through some thick undergrowth. Getting to civilization was a ten foot vertical drop near the just completed housing where the 'Leng Chai' nearly had a 'pangsai' when he landed on his back from about five feet high. The home trail was a nineteen minute walk on tarmac to home. Late going in Cock Pain and XL soon caught up with the back pack and completed together.

It appeared 'not my standard' for just came in time Long John Silver, Buaya and ABC to do a walk up on just the tarmac instead of going in for the run. They went looking for property for sale in the long abandoned 'Kenny Hill' style project.

FROP was in about 1hr 8mins while the last out at about 7.30pm. KFC and Heny followed Blood Donor and Chickadee on their short cut.

On On onsite, the hare's home cooked offering.

Rehashed 20120303 Thomas Woo

Run: 972 Virgin Hare: Thomas Woo Venue: Damai Utama Kinrara Cohares: Tanki Air and the Puchong Gang

No one was willing to volunteer to write the scribe for this run, a run which will certainly go down in the annals as one of Hulu Langat's most talked about runs.

By 6pm, there was only a few members ready for the run. Well this run was being set by a virgin hare from among the Puchong group, so, as it was expected, nearly the whole Puchong group would have gone in as co-hares. Just before the On Call for the start, two co-hares came out from setting the run. Suck It said they went in at four and that the others were on their way out. He also said "Dua bukit sahaja" (two hills only). On hearing about only two hills, Munster quickly approached Eto asking if she had an extra torch.

It is difficult to describe the run or how many checks were laid or who broke the checks and so forth. For one thing, it was a wet trail, given the heavy rains the past two evenings, Then, the hares ran out of paper or so it seemed, as spacing was wide and at some places, the trail papers were observed to be torn though there were no checks. Then the trail appeared to follow another chapter's paper trail.

The first runner on paper (FROB), Dipstick, came out in good time, 2hrs 45mins.

While the front group was coming out, the hare together with Cowlin, went in the out-trail to help to bring the back pack out. They took along one bottle of water. They would have probably gone in, walking for an hour or so when they stopped on a hill and started to call out for the back pack (did some residents in the nearby housing mistake these shouts as calls for help?).

Meanwhile, the back pack consisting of Chickadee, Juicy and Suck It's brother in one group, Buaya, Khoo Kongsi and Bandit, (yes he went in) in another group and about half an hour behind, Cock Pain and XL, who went in for the run at 6.45pm. On meeting the back pack, Cowlin led the Chickadee group on the way out, Buaya's group followed on their own, struggling some twenty five minutes behind. The hare, Thomas waited for the last group, Cock Pain and XL.

When Buaya'a came out of the jungle and walking towards the runsite and the beer, Dipstick's jeep came up and greeted them and continued to go and pick up the last. Then the Puchong guys' jeep came up with some isotonic drinks.

As soon as Bandit reached the runsite at 11pm, he let out all the expletives he had in his vocabulary, shocking some of those who were waiting for all to come out. A short while later, one of the jeeps came back, bringing Cock Pain and a much relieved XL. But Cowlin, who was leading Chickadee's group, was still not out, though they were supposed to be ahead of Buaya's group.

While waiting for Cowlin and the last group, another drama began to unfold. The government rescue team comprising over twenty of them and the police arrived. Apparently, someone had called to inform them that a group of eight were lost in the jungle and needed help.

While JPS and Guitarman were explaining to them, Cowling and group reached home. Then began some series of 'lectures' by the rescue team and our explanations that we were not lost. The rescue team, being not satisfied, wanted the names and identity card numbers of those who had just come out, which were given. But still not satisfied, they then asked for the names of all members present, but Beerman protested saying "saya ta'ada lari ma".

Finaly, they relented with a last 'lecture' that this jungle was off-limits to the public and that we are not run in there again. Upon accepting their advice, we told them not to blame us if they see others, not our chapter, running there.

While, On On was on site, which was so much that members were asked to pack some home, there was no circle.

Rehashed 20120218 Showtime

Run: 970 Hare: Showtime Venue: Sg Jelok Cohares: ...

Another attempt to do a run at this runsite without decuf. The run started sharp at 6, going in by the little stream on the left. Paper was not our usual HLH4 paper, some 4x4 recycling paper instead. Crossing the stream the first check was layed.

Dipstick forward checking and climbing the hill at the left, Sexy Showman confused the pack by calling OnOn further to the left, confused by Mother Hash paper which he thought would be our chapter’s paper (somebody need to show him how HLH4 paper looks like). Finally OnOn was called to the usual steep hill to the right (the one Bandit got his hill-phobia from).

Gary peeping around a corner, trying to sneak out to avoid that hill and only after Dipstick threatened him to be put on ice reluctantly started climbing.

After reaching the top the trail was quite nice to run. Paper was easy to follow and checks were nicely connected (big hand to SK!). After 50 minutes reaching the big hut and the usual motorbike trail going down, back to the runsite.

First runner out in about one hour, last runner with 2 guests not out until 11:00…..

Rehashed 20120211 CNY Run

Run: No 969 Occasion: CNY Run Venue: Kesuma Lakes SubCons: King Kong, Bulldozer

Billy No Hair honored us by agreeing to do the scribe for old time sake as how he used to scribe so frequently while he was running with us.

It was about four and a half months since we left and when we got to the run site, there were so many smiling faces welcoming us back. That’s hash! We couldn’t agree more and we got to our hashing mode to meet more friendly parties and enjoying our outing. The evening was really warm but the atmosphere was even hotter!

We started among the last as me Mrs was ‘putting on her protection screen’ to make sure no ‘friendly hitchings’. The run started on a usual trail beside the run site onto a small rubber holding before going deeper into the OP. It was so familiar that it felt like a rendevous, passing through the OP hill, crossing a deep ditch, passing under the high tension cables and pylon, back into the OP with soft-leaved grass like plants and the gradient OP uphill climb.

All were somewhat so familiar until we were somewhere nowhere in the OP. A tough circular check brought almost everyone together but was finally broken by Cat on the trail by the cemetery. We got on the tarmac for a bit before getting into the OP again. We got to a river and saw a road that someone said was the Broga road! Only then that I realized he was right! It was the road bend just before the end of the 4 lane road.

We followed the small river bank, the crossing was hilarious when one has to stand on some rotten tree trunk to jump across. The few were adamant but frightened! What’s the fright? The worse is only wet shoes! The action and attempts were hilarious! We got across and kept on running on an offtrack before coming to a junction where Kelam Kabut thought it would be a check that he followed an offtrack. FunToong was upfront on paper calling while the rest followed.

Kelam Kabut would have an easier way if he followed his instinct as the paper trail led us through some bushy-full of holes-muddy-river crossing-fallen tree trunk crossing and a thorny edge climb! We were back on the OP offtracks with Dipstick leading the pack, running like no tomorrow with Big Mouth Monkey. They deserved a check and they got it with a back check. The run back bought the middle pack some closer distance to the runners while the last few OP hill climbs proved to be too much for some.

We got to more familiar OP areas and the vast clearcuts before the last hill climb into the small rubber holding. We got out in about 1hr10mins and me Endomondo registered about 7km.

Run: No 968 Hare: Abraham Wong Venue: Sg Jelok Cohares: Sang Wat

The weather was when the members were getting to the runsite. However, when Bulldozer put on his running shoes, there was a slight drizzle which gave him second thoughts about going in.

But there was no rain and at the On On call, twenty odd members hit the trail just as Bandit and Long John came in. Silent Dragon and Cowlin waited for Long John to go in together. The in-trail took the right at the first fork for the climb.

Midway up was the first check and Guitarman went further up front to break but it was a back check. When he came down at the On Call, the others had already gone in on the trail across the stream on the left. As Guitarman waited while deciding whether to continue, do a DIY or turn back, Bandit came up.

Guitarman complained of a bad knee, while Bandit said he had stamina problems, both giving excuses for not wanting to complete the run. But still continued up. Going slightly up, 'ARE YOU's were heard, so Guitarman took a path on the left while Bandit went further up and another path also to the left where old CH4 papers were seen.

Meanwhile, Long John, Silent Dragon, Aru and Cowlin came up continued on the paper trail which kept going up and up. While Bandit continued up, Guitarman disappeared doing a DIY. Reaching the top, Cowlin, on the pretext of looking for Micheal, turned back.

From the top, the papers went down slightly before leveling and going towards the left, leading the runners precariously by the side of some gullies. By the time Long John and Aru reached the last check, the front runners had re-grouped, being not able to break the check and discussing whether to turn back.

Long John voiced his dissatisfaction, saying it was not his standard to turn back. With no other choice, the group turned and Bulldozer tried the known path which leads to home. Meanwhile, Eto was seen using her phone, frantically calling someone. The time was around seven so bookies would have stopped taking bets. But it turned out, she panicked when the group decided to turn back leaving her hubby who was up front still trying to break the last check.

Taking this path with Bulldozer leading, they found papers and called On On before meeting Cowlin who was coming up the out-trail. From thereon, it was all the way down and home. Cha Cha, the last to go in, came out overtaking the back runners.

Run: 967 Hare: Miaw Miaw Venue: Cheras Bukit Hatamas Cohares: Pengsan, Silent Dragon

It rained in the Klang Valley earlier and there was a slight drizzle at the start of the run. The runsite had to be moved to the site to the left as there were signs another hash chapter was runsited at our usual place near the free water tap 'sponsored' by Guitarman. But it appeared this chapter was HAPPY with just three runners.

This was the first run in the Chinese year of the Water Dragon and we had, who else, but Silent Dragon to co-hare the run.

The trail up the usual out-trail up to level six which the hare was misled to believe was station 5. From there it was all the way down, but Silent Dragon conveniently forgot the two more climbs to endure on the way down.

Accept for the initial screw up just before the climb where some A holes connected the papers to the out trail, all the other checks were broken intelligently fast despite the absence of the usual FROBs.

The next week's hare was believed to be the FROB, coming out in 1hr 20mins.

On On onsite with packed nasi ayam with some frills.

Run: 965 Hare: Bandit Venue: Eco Village Hululangat Cohare: Joachim

At sharp six, JM sounded the regular call and about 30 Hashers followed him heading to a different in-trail with a slight detour to the right just after crossing the road and up the hill. We ran along some secondary jungle before the path connected to the road heading towards the houses.

Running along the road, the trail turned right. The first check was up halfway on the left was broken forward by Guitarman, and the trail took us along the stream and after going up a hill, the second check was laid by the entrance of the bungalow. This was a back check. It was uphill all the way and then downhill until the third check which was broken on the left by Sexy Showman. Running along by the fringe of the jungle, the fourth check was at the plantation and was broken by Kenching forward before the stream.

Just when the trail was a smooth downhill (with some thinking of the golden fluid waiting down the road) we saw Charlie (who came in the in-trail) directing us to the trail as there was no paper. Apparently the landlord of a farm had picked up the paper trail. We continued along and the trail was on again to the run home. A good and well thought run by the Hare and Co-hare, which is exactly how a HLH4 run should be.

Rehashed 20120107 OnTheWay

Run: 964 Hare: On The Way Venue: Precinct 17 Putrajaya Cohare: CockPain

It was a new runsite somewhere in Presinct 17 in Putrajaya. The hare appeared to be caught up in the Christmas season as he made out the directional signs to the runsite in the season's colors. This made it a real hassle for nearly all members to get to the runsite in time. For it being 'HHL4' instead of  'HLH4', On The Way put the blame on Short Circuit.

The runsite car park was on the road itself at a dead end, so it was quite ample and secluded. The sparse in papers on open ground. though difficult to follow, led up the rocky outcrop towards Kg Limau Manis. Going up the tarred stretch, it soon hit the trees midway the hilltop where a check was soon broken.

Going around, the papers soon went under canopy for climb through thick rubber seedling growth. The climb leveled off for a short distance before going up again. Just before the top. it leveled off again for the walk through bushes and undergrowth on the terrace which went towards the right.

Where the terrace narrowed, the papers led down zig-zagging through the rubber seedlings. Reaching the bottom, the papers led right for the next climb which took the hashers up the same hill and than back down to hit the home trail.

FRB was just after the hour, while the rest came out a while later. There was a turn out of more 40 members at the On On with home cooked food by the hare.

The hare was reminded to collect back all his hash signs, including the one in this picture.
