Run20130706 Bandit

Run: 1042 Hare: Bandit Venue: Bukit Kiara Cohare: Joachim

The runsite at Bulkit Kiara is a first for Hulu Langat, though a run was previously scheduled here but which had to be relocated to Bukit Gasing at the last minute due to the chikungunya outbreak.

The beerman hearing that the run was at Bukit Kiara, decided to give this run a skip for fear of the 'bukits' in this area. So when the hashers arrived, there was no beerman and no water and no beer. GM and Bulldozer had to step up and emptied the sundry shops in Sri Hartamas of their beer.

The run was mostly on well trodden trails, no difficult climbs (its bandit's run), a few stream crossings and a long long home trail on the road.

The FRB, Kenching, hit home in one hour 20 mins while the back pack was out about half an hour later. The Co-hare mentioned that he clocked 9km for the run.

The circle had to be dragged on on on on while waiting for CockPain to cook his seafood porridge during which the supply of beer also ran out. So Jack Kee was elected, as he had a new assistant, to go and get more beers, which he did.

On On onsite, seafood porridge catered by CP.

Run: 1041 Hare: Yap Woei Kee Venue: Sg Long Cohares: Silent Dragon

A good run which had the usual early, without a warm up, long climb on the right. The paper went through the usual trails and climbs and from the last climb, it went left for long down to fishing pond and out through the new completed houses.

FRB was out at about 7.15pm and the back pack out about an hour later.

On On on site.

Rehashed 20130622 Eto

Run: 1040 Hare: Eto Venue: Bukit Gasing Cohares: KenChing

A few days earlier, the hare did a recce and planned the run. But on the run day, they arrived late, probably due to the haze and so the hare decided that it will be a live hare run. So ordered her subcons to go in and set the run without her and she will go in for the run, probably with a plan to slow down the front runners.

The subcon live hare probably knew they could not rely on the hare to slow the FRBs, so they had to play safe. Putting the blame on the haze, they cut short from the planned route and hit home, coming out about 6.35pm with the front runners on their heels about seven minutes behind.

On On at the Thai restaurant at the bird park.

Rehashed 20130615 VolunteerRun

Run: 1039 Hare: Silent Dragon -Volunteer Venue: Bukit Hatamas Cheras Cohares: (KH3 hares)

(no pix as yet)

On a cool day compared to the scorching heat days that we have been having, 12 HLH4 hashers and a guest came for this voluntary run held at Cheras Hatamas organised by our On Cash Silent Dragon. Since the numbers were not ascertained prior the run, and our brother KH3’s run was also on the same run site, it was decided that HLH4 run on the same trail set by KH3.

The trail started on the road and took us left at the far end and then started going slightly uphill. Up up we went and reached the first check that was broken right and we came to a beautiful waterfall. This was indeed a new area for HLH4 hashers and the scenery was really fantastic. We kept climbing up until we reached the second check and it went downhill for a bit before turning right again uphill.

At the top of the hill, it was a check again and this check took us down again and started leading home or so we thought until we found the last check which was a formality towards home, back on the tar road to the cars, where we parked.

KH3 had their own run site with their beer wagon, but we had our chilled beer organised and 100 Plus and water melons to quench our thirst.

The Circle started at 8.30, On Sex took the box and announced the next weeks run at Gasing Hill. The hare for the Voluntary Run was iced in recognition for organising a splendid run despite the short notice. On Sex announced the Rotation Run that will be held on 29 July 2013 hosted by HLH4 and urged all members to support the OC and his team if approached. Hash Advisor Long John reminded all members that as a club that has been around for 20 years, we should accommodate each other always. The Whip, iced the usual suspects for the offences committed and later was iced by On Sex for offence he committed.

Overall, even though we had only 12, (as Munster left after the run), we had a really good time and the camaraderie was fantastic.

Rehashed 20130608 YamWaiKit

Run: 1038 Virgin Hare: Yam Wai Kit Venue: Sg Jelok Cohares:

A good turnout. The weather too was cool, as a result of the earlier rain. The virgin hare selected some virgin trails on the opposite side of where the "live-hare" runs are usually set.

The in-trail was at the back and right going up through the young rubber fields. The in trail kept going up along on the gravel road for about 50 mins. From the top, one could guess that the out trail would be through on the right which meant that the down trail would certainly lead to a couple more climbs.

A consolation was that, the trails were nearly all on the gravel roads. However, the home trail went into thick vegetation which had a steep slippery decent coupled with a shiggy and a stream which had to be crossed in the dark.

The FRB hit home just before 8pm and the back pack coming out just before nine. Cockpain, going in at 7pm completed the run just a head of the back pack.

On On onsite - chee cheong fun.

Rehashed 20130601 Heny Soo

Run: 1037 Hare: Heny Soo Venue: Bandar Technology Kajang Cohares: Kiki, Silent Dragon, Gigi Putih, Reject, Bulldozer

Another run at the slowly shrinking running area, development takes its share….

Weather was sunny and hot and OnOn was called sharp at 6 pm. In trail was the usual way along the construction site into the palm, where soon the first check was hit. Quickly broken the paper went on through the estate turning right at the end of the construction, up the slope and leading left into the bushes.

Going up after a few hundred meters, a second check was found with a falsie, which kept the hashers busy for a while. After a confusing long time, the check was broken forward (seemed it should have been quite easy to break) and the trail went on at the edge of a rim, far above the housing where people watched the line of hashers with multicoloured running attire disappearing into the jungle.

Coming out of the bushes into the open a third check was broken straight ahead, going up some slope.

After a while of running we came close to the whore, where another check was broken quickly, seemed to bypass the hill, very much to Bandit’s relief, but…….FALSIE!

As could be expected the connecting paper was leading up to the hill, everyone huffin’ and puffin’ on the way up.

JPS, Blood Donor and some other ‘smart ones’ tried to shortcut and turned to the right before reaching the top.

The pack went up all the way and followed the paper to the left, coming down through the durian orchard.

From there it was up another small hill down to the out-trail along the highway.

First runner out was Cock Pain after about 90 minutes. Last ones were the SCB’s whereby Khoo and a guest were not out yet when the circle about to start…..

Run: 1030 Hare: Chong Chee Yong Venue: Taman Wawasan Puchong Cohares:

Arrived quite early at the runsite and enjoyed watching the arriving hashers struggling to find parking space, as the usual parking area was still occupied by cars of hikers who enjoy this nice area.

MiowMiow was seen blocking Bandit's car, when he tried to reverse into a parking lot, and took it for herself. Eiiiaaaah….sure icing later!

In–trail was close by, short distance into the bushes and up the hill, a steep climb without the chance of some warm-up. Front runners reached the trail at the top and a first check, while the back runners still crawling up the steep slope.

The check was broken to the left into the jungle, going downhill to a small stream. Crossing it, a bit further away a second check was broken by Pengsan, who was seen connecting back the trail with paper, but not calling ‘OnOn’ – for which he got iced later on.

After some running the trail led down again to a broader stream, which could be crossed by a fallen small tree, quite challenging to keep the balance. Up on the other side and again cruising through small path which allowed some pace.

Coming down to a wider trail the front-runners expected to be on the home trail already, but after a while a sharp turn to the right led them down to the waterfall. Instead of crossing the stream on the slippery rocks I decided to get my shoes wet and walked a few meters upstream to the other side…..so refreshing, tempted to lie down and get soaked in the cooling water.

A steep climb up on the other side, with some more climbing to come and………there was Bandit, honking his horn!

From that the runsite must be near, but it took another 15 minutes or so to finish.

A very good run with everything which makes a hash-run enjoyable, nicely set by the coheres. Unfortunately not up to Bandit’s standard, who wanted to show off by taking only the hill at the beginning and the end of the run and skip all the middle part on even terrain.

Rehashed 20130406 Matahari

Run: 1029 Hare: Matahari Venue: Kota Warisan Cohare: Thomas Kilat, Dorai

The scheduled hare was Matahari (sun) but getting to the runsite, from the main road, there were no matahari signs and there were also no HLH4 directional signs, instead we were greeted with only bulan (moon - general elections season) signs. From before the start and right up the ON ON, there was also no matahari, just hujan (rain).

The runsite was at the curve in the road going up just before the hilltop and away from the Co-hare's semi-D.

Unlike the previous runs here, the papers led on the opposite direction, a different route. Going under palm oil, the trial kept left, going up the 1st hill and coming down, still keeping left and to the high tension power lines. But the papers did not cross the rentice, but kept just along the boundary.

Another hill and a loop where the last check was "lost and not connected" for some back runners. The trail then hit towards the main road side and looped back, climbing the last hill back to runsite through the usual in-trail.

The rain before the run had washed off some trail marking papers, which delayed the runners somewhat but still the FROBs managed to hit home within the hour. A short while later, the rest of the group was out. Some said that it was a "motorbike run", so the hare's brother was "cooled" down.

The hare, Matahari, must have expected or maybe even summoned the rain, which had stopped for awhile just before the start of the run and then continued when circle began. He gave out Mataharimau umbrellas.

Rehashed 20130330 Ah Fatt Kuachi

Run: 1028 Virgin Hare: Ah Fatt Kuachi Venue: Broga Cohares:

For this run two things were for sure:
First, plenty of climbs during the run. Broga!
Secondly, Bandit surely not showing up, still traumatized after being tricked during setting last week’s run!

And so it was.

OnOn was called at 6 pm and the runners left the nice compound to the right on the street and at the first restaurant turned left on the path along the fence. Still in warming-up mode, a lot of chitchatting was going on and the front-chatters did not bother about paper, missed the turn to the right.

Calling them back on trail the paper led to the steep climb at the gravel road all the way up to the top. A first check was quickly broken to the right, going downhill a small path, allowing some running through the rubber to a small stream.

There the front runners hit the second check, which somehow took about 20 minutes to break. Finally KenChing found the paper in the bushes further left going uphill. Some steep climbs made everyone catch breath until the runners finally could come out at a cleared area.

The paper was leading to the right, downhill to one more check with a falsie further downhill, which pulled a group of hashers further downhill. A few smarter ones checking earlier already to the left further up, where after some confusion with OnOn calls from the falsie-runners, connecting paper was found by Pengsan.

The pack was called back and puffed up their way to the top with the nice view, realizing that another climb had to be mastered until the home trail could be finally reached, coming out at the top of the temple area.

Circle was held at the fishpond area with Abraham as mystery whip. OnOn Cock Pain’s on-site cooked famous seafood porridge.

Rehashed 20130323 Joachim

Run: 1027 Hare: Joachim Venue: Bukit Hatamas Cheras Cohares:

When the hare arrived at the runsite at 3pm to set the run, there were already quite a number of hashmen's cars, so the runsite was moved lightly to the left as MKH4 'conquered' our usual spot.

Knowing that there were a few of our members who will usually skip, shortcut, turn back or do a DIY at the hilly trails around here, the hare needed to strategize, not only to make everyone go in but to also get them to complete the run. Announcing that it will be a short run or that there will only be one or two climbs does not work. So he got Bandit as bait and even got Bandit to park his car, with hash papers and all, right in front of the runsite, so that no one could miss it, and kept his car in background. Everyone coming in will get the impression that Bandit, who abhors hills, was setting the run.

It worked, nearly everyone, with exception of Eto and Bruise Lee, went it. Even KFC fell for the bait and went in but JPS was not fooled, he did his usual DIY.

The papers started in the usual in-trail but kept right and down into the jungle keeping just along the fringe. When it hit the joggers/hikers' path, the trail led along on the path up to a point where the papers went back into the jungle on the right. After a couple of checks along the way, the papers went on the hikers' track for the steep climb to level 3.

The check at level 3 seemed a slight problem as from there the papers followed the same trial as that of the Baby hash and MKH4. Coming down a tricky, slippery and sometimes difficult descent, a check was laid on the trail to the left, broken on the right, the papers led up to hashers' main in / out trail.

The hare must have expected Long John to turn up for the run, so instead of hitting the out-trail, he pulled the front runners across for another climb that ended with an even more difficult descent.

Dipstick and CockPain were out neck to neck in one hour 20 minutes. A quick call to 'sweeper' Charlie Cheekadee got him to turn back and come out through the other hash chapter's laid papers. By 8.30pm, all were out.

On On onsite - CockPain arranged stuff.

Run: 1025 Hare: Ken Ching Venue: Gasing Hill Cohare: Kelam Kabut

The hare hired a confused mercenary to help set this run, in the form of our ex-member, KelamKabut.

It was the usual in-trail that went down and the papers took the path on the right. Instead of crossing the stream, the trail led right and up to hit the concrete cascading drain. From there the trail went left and up and down near the precarious temple and down to the stream.

Coming down to the stream, the check broken on the right was not connected well which led the mid pack to hit the in-trail. ClipClip misled this group right up to the concrete steps. Realizing their folly, the group came down and found the correct trail.

It was a couple more up and downs right up to the trail that led to the playground but which then took the "short cut" up the last hill and back to home.

Newbies and guests outnumbered the members as quite a number of our regulars had gone to join a "Poles Only" celebration run. Blackjack of the Dalmatians dumped a guest, Nilly Willy. Nilly Willy appeared fascinated with our Tool of Office and also enjoyed the ON ON which was a three table affair at the Thai restaurant at nearby Bird Park.
